It was summer 2006 when the doctors first told my grandpa of his condition and his immediate reaction was to fight the disease for his family. I had never seen such courage or bravery in another person. My grandpa endured months of radiation and chemotherapy treatments, but never complained once. He felt chronic pain and discomfort, but made no mention of it. He had to take so much medication and remained in the hospital, but asked for nothing more than familial comforts during his painful battle. When my grandpa entered the terminal phase of the disease, the chemotherapy treatments had failed, and he was admitted into palliative care. It was Christmas and we knew our time with him was coming to an end. When the moment of his passing arrived, it was peaceful and he was surrounded by those who loved and respected him. My grandpa was a smoker for 10 years while he lived in Vietnam, but stopped completely when he brought his family to start a new life in Canada. That was over 25 years ago. He was diagnosed with lung cancer in July 2006 and passed away only 6 months later. Although his time with us was cut short, I will never regret a moment spent with him, and I will forever cherish those last moments we shared together as a family. A man of great courage, talent and charisma, was my grandfather. He will forever be loved, always missed and never forgotten. The Typically Canadian Group is riding with Bao Ninh Banh...
