Denise St-Laurent, A Loving Mother

Denise had a great life, two beautiful boys and a loving husband. Unfortunately, Denise was diagnosed with stage 3a large cell lung cancer in July 2001. She was 40 years old and was she ever scared. But Denise was a fighter and she had the support system she needed from her caring husband, family and friends. While Denise went through her treatments and constant battle, she cared and worried more about her two sons, who were 14 and 18 at the time. She hid as much as she could from them so they would not worry about her. |

Denise went into remission November 1st 2001. Her aggressive treatments saved her life. She was very sick and fragile for a year and a half after treatments, but her support system was instrumental. Family and friends provided the love and support for Denise to regain strength and live again, as a true “Typical Canadian”. Denise will be six years in remission on November 1st 2007. Her advice is to do everything that the doctors tell you. She did and she is still here today. Denise’s courage and willpower throughout her ordeal will inspire friends and family close to her, while their caring support will inspire Denise to continue living as Typical Canadians.
