Max Keeping

Max Keeping was diagnosed with prostrate cancer on May 30th, 2003 , the same weekend he hosted the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario Telethon. "I just some how accepted it and said, you can't ruin my weekend. I've got kids who inspire me to deal with this. They have much more difficult things to tackle and if there's anything over the past 20 years that kids have taught me, it's about living!"

As a news anchor on CJOH in Ottawa , Max inspired others in his fight against prostrate cancer by going public on air not only with his diagnosis but his treatments and recovery, encouraging others to get tested for early detection and raising awareness for prostrate cancer.

Since his recovery, an annual celebration of life "Dancing in the Street Party" is held in the Glebe area of Ottawa . An event that celebrates life! This year you will find Max doing his finest Newfie jig on August 23rd.

"Instead of thinking death when the doctor says cancer, we want people to hear survival."

Max Keeping is a champion on so many levels.

Honourary chair for "Do it for Dad" walk for prostate cancer and past honourary chair for relay for life. The Typically Canadian Group will honour Max Keeping in Ottawa on June 27th as a Yellow Jersey Honouree for being a leader and going above and beyond in the fight against cancer.
