Story:I was raised to believe that family and friends are one of the most precious things in life. When Kyle Braatz approached me with the "Typically Canadian" cause, a memoriam to his late grandfather, who passed away 18 months after being diagnosed with liver cancer, I knew I had to become involved.
I have been fortunate enough not to have lost a family member to this devastating disease, yet I have seen the sorrow it leaves in its wake, most recently when the father of a close friend died a very short time after it was discovered he had cancer. My friend displayed amazing strength during this time and I tried my best to support him by being there for him and helping any way I could, but I often felt that I did not do enough. For me the "Typically Canadian Tour" is a way to continue to support those I know who have suffered a loss. As I bike across the country my thoughts will be of those left behind and of those who were taken from the families who loved them dearly. If I can do this one thing, honouring Typical Canadians across our nation, then I am grateful to be part of this ride.
Who am I riding with? I'm riding with all the people like me who fear that one day cancer will claim someone they dearly love and don't want to be without.…WHO ARE YOU RIDING WITH?
