Typically Canadian Firefighters
Firefighters are selfless. They show courage, will power and compassion when they stand in the face of danger for Canadians. They do this knowing full well that they are exposing themselves to life threatening situations, elements and exposure to harmful toxins. Exposure has a direct link to Firefighters contracting cancer in the workplace.
Firefighters Battle with Cancer
Firefighters are at increased risk for certain cancers as a result of workplace exposure to certain elements. There are eight cancers that are directly related to Firefighter exposure which need to be recognized by provincial governments in legislation and the general public. TCG aims to advocate for this legislation and inform citizens living in Canada about the increased risk involved with Firefighting .
Firefighters and the Tribute Tour
Fire Departments across Canada are contributing to the 2008 Tribute Tour in different ways. They are providing hospitality for members of TCG along their journey across Canada. Most of all Firefighters are motivating and inspiring TCG members and all Canadians across the nation with their constant dedication to our nation. They have rallied to the cause of Typical Canadians as they are all aware of the importance of fighting this disease.
TCG will advocate for the passing of legislation to recognize cancer deaths among firefighters in the line of duty. The Typically Canadian Group stands behind all firefighters across Canada, and supports the idea of recognizing firefighters who lose their battle with a disease contracted as a result of elements they face going to work everyday. TCG will also honour Typically Canadian Firefighters, by telling their stories on our website and throughout their communities.
